🫀007: Money Rules + Feedback humbly requested

Hello you, happy Saturday!

I hope your week went by productively and you're gearing up to a well-deserved weekend.

So I did a thing. A few things, actually.

ONE.

Remember I mentioned a project about dealing with pesky student loans last week?

Yeah, I created this post on my personal website.

For accountability and also for tracking purposes. In it, I've also documented some money rules I created for myself to follow in 2022.

All that to say.. feel free to call me out if you see me breaking any of those rules in 2022.

😤😤

I'll regularly keep you updated on my progress.

TWO.

This newsletter didn't start out as Heartstrings.

It started as my attempt to share life updates, and somewhere along the way pivoted into a platform for me to share tips on public speaking and presentation skills. You may have subscribed for the latter.

I know I haven't been fulfilling my end of the bargain for quite some time now.

For that, I am really sorry.

I'm tremendously grateful that you've been with me on this journey of discovery and reinvention. But beyond that, I know I can do better.

That is why, I have something brewing behind the scenes. And I humbly ask for your kind and honest feedback on it.

You see, I'm building a new site to house everything I know about storytelling, public speaking and communicating more effectively - both written and spoken. (I'll go into greater detail in future newsletters on why I decided to create a separate site from my personal one.)

I wrote something for the About page and it's.. different.

It's not what you'll expect from a regular website/blog looking to teach and share.

BUT I had a ton of fun crafting the idea and writing it out. That's important to me.

What's more important to me, is that readers will benefit from what I have to share too!

Will you please help me out?

Honest feedback required.

Here's a Google Doc of the rough draft to the new homepage. It's only 150 words short.

I'm requesting feedback on:

  1. Whether you're interested to read on and explore the site.
  2. Whether the writing is confusing or not.
  3. Is there any point where you decided to stop reading and click away.

Feel free to comment right in the Doc. If you prefer, you can "Reply" to this email as well.

I deeply appreciate every single thought and comment.

And I hope you don't hold back.

With hope, joy and love,
Mich

P.S. If you have 5-minutes to spare today, I would greatly appreciate it if you read 150 words here and share your thoughts.

Happy 2026 my dear Charisma Cultivators! I hope the first half of January has been good to you. I hope you’re still keeping up with your new year resolutions and working towards your goals. Was there something that has stood out to you so far? For me, I just returned from a long trip to the beautiful island of Tasmania. It was my first time outside of Asia, and the new environment allowed me the time and space to reflect and plan. getting to see wombats up close 😍 definitely my highlight of...

It’s hard being a modern human. We’re being bombarded left and right by conflicting ideas. Speak louder! Keep quiet! You should do more! Less is more! Your problem is you don’t speak up! Your tone of voice is causing you problems! It’s more crucial than ever to be able to find clarity in this increasingly confusing world. Our minds and beliefs are being pulled left and right by people with opposing points of view and way more influence than us. As an absolute introvert myself, I know how it...

The 3 main stages in communication

We often overlook one very important aspect of communication. I would even argue it’s the most important aspect. Before I tell you what that is, let me first share with you with a lesson I learned this week. Trust me, it’ll all make sense. A few days ago, I was lamenting how I usually have this incredible zest when starting out at a new job or learning something new. I’m always gripped by this unexplainable obsession to do something well or get something right. Recently though, I’ve...
