Recently I've been binging a podcast called "I Have ADHD Podcast", for reasons I'll touch on in Whimsical Wednesdays this week. It's run by Kristen Carder, certified life coach and ADHD advocate.
The episode I'm referring to specifically is one where she discusses about prioritising and making decisions as adults with ADHD. There was a line in it which really struck me. I can't exactly remember the entire quote, but it went something like this:
"If you're allowing external circumstances to dictate whether you feel okay or not,
that's not the way to live, my friend.."
What she's trying to say, is that being okay is a "you" thing. It has nothing to do with our decisions or priorities.
It left a lasting impact on me because I realise I've been letting this happen to me all my life.
I've been letting events or people (both out of my control) push me around all the time, and neglecting the one thing I CAN control. My own thoughts, emotions and response.
To be honest, I may have already known this since awhile ago.
But the fact is I haven't taken concrete steps to change. And for that, I have no excuses.
No, wait.
I have tonnes of excuses. Just, none of them are valid.
I've placed an intention on 2022 to be the year I work on myself. So there's no better time than now.
Which brings me to my next point.
In my last email, I shared that I'll be graduating soon. What I didn't mention, is that my student loan will start to accrue interest upon graduation. Which means, mission pay-it-off-as-soon-as-I-can has to be on full throttle. 🏎💨🔥
Well, Mich, time to adult.
I'm not particularly sophisticated with money. In fact, I am absolute crap at managing finances.
So why not share this "debt clearing" project with you? And create some content out of the journey in the mean time.
Still not sure if it's a good idea, but hey, I gotta start somewhere. That I can be sure of.
Let me know what you think!
As always, I'm all ears.
With heart,
Mich

It’s hard being a modern human. We’re being bombarded left and right by conflicting ideas. Speak louder! Keep quiet! You should do more! Less is more! Your problem is you don’t speak up! Your tone of voice is causing you problems! It’s more crucial than ever to be able to find clarity in this increasingly confusing world. Our minds and beliefs are being pulled left and right by people with opposing points of view and way more influence than us. As an absolute introvert myself, I know how it...
We often overlook one very important aspect of communication. I would even argue it’s the most important aspect. Before I tell you what that is, let me first share with you with a lesson I learned this week. Trust me, it’ll all make sense. A few days ago, I was lamenting how I usually have this incredible zest when starting out at a new job or learning something new. I’m always gripped by this unexplainable obsession to do something well or get something right. Recently though, I’ve...
